The Beagles Now Featured on TV4U.Com's Hi Tops Classic Kids Channel

Taking advantage of the Beatles craze, the folks who gave us Leonard the Lion, knocked off the Fab Four with a short lived cartoon series. It ran in 1966-67 on CBS, then was paned off on the thrifty ABC Network, which ran it the following year.

Fun to watch....if you're a kid!

Did You Know Dominick Dunne Got His Start With Howdy Doody Show?

Prolific writer and pop icon Dominick Dunne, who recently passed away, started out in the early days of TV. His first job was as the stage manager for the Howdy Doody Show in New York. Really! From there he went to Hollywood where he filled a similar position for the TV production of The Petrified Forest with Humphrey Bogart. From there he became a TV (Adventures in Paradise) and movie (Boys in the Band) producer. You can watch Howdy Doody, Adventures in Paradise, and Petrified Forest on TV4U.Com.

Crusader Rabbit Returns Via Hi Tops TV.Com on TV4U.Com

Pop Quiz...name the first cartoon made especially for TV? Most people would say Rocky and Bullwinkle. Others would say The Flintstones. But the answer is Crusader Rabbit, who came to 'life' in the 1940's during the infancy of TV. It was thought that animation would just be too expensive for the small TV budgets, but TV production pioneer Jerry Fairbanks enlisted Jay Ward (yes, THAT Jay Ward of Rocky and Bullwinkle fame) to create the diminutive rabbit and Rags his sidekick. Not that money was aved all the way around. They eschewed color, even though there were rumblings at the time that the CBS color system would be adopted by the FCC (it wasn't). They used the public domain song 'Ten Little Indians' to avoid music rights for the title song (as had The Lone Ranger show when they started that in the early days of the cash strapped Mutual Radio Network). It was the first use of 'limited animation', although kids across the country never noticed. They all grew up with Crusader Rabbit. Now you can watch him again!

For those who grew up watching Clutch Cargo, there were indeed two more such shows that used the 'Synchro Vox' method to make the shows so distinctive. You can watch both at Hi Tops TV.Com, which is the Hi Tops IPTV channel on TV4U.Com. They are a scream. If you've never seen them before, you'll love them. Popeye Theater, Three Stooges Live On HiTops TV.Com

So many of us grew up watching Popeye Theater, or a similar kiddie show after schools. Now you can watch these cartoons again....Popeye, Superman, Mighty Mouse, and the gang. Most of these shows also revived the classic Three Stooges shorts and you can watch some of those here as well as their later live action/cartoon efforts. We each had a different host throughout the country....Sally Starr in Philadelphia, Wayne Mack in New Orleans, etc. etc. Do you remember who your local host was?

Iconic Gamer Show Announcer Johnny Olson As a Kids Show Host?

Yes! Poor Johnny Olson got his career started at the long lost Dumont TV Network where one had to be versatile in order to cover a lot of assignments with just a few people. A lot of stars got started there- Olson, Dennis James, Morey Amsterdam, Jackie Gleason, Art Carney, Arnold Stang, Jacquiline Susann to name a few. All certainly learned some humility (except maybe Gleason) at Dumont. Johnny Olson drew hosting duties for Kids and Company, a dreadful show hosted by Red Goose Shoes that even made kids look annoying. Olson mechanically goes through the motions here obviously hoping that another career opportunity will come along. As game show afficianatos know, he landed on his feet! Watch for yourself.
